‘We are back in the title race’ - Chelsea's Petr Cech buoyant after victory over Premier League leaders Manchester City

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech insists the Premier League title race is wide open following the Blues’ 2-1 victory over table toppers Manchester City.
Frank Lampard scored the winning goal from the penalty spot after coming on from the bench and handed the north-west outfit their first defeat of the campaign.The gap between the two sides has been brought down to seven points from 10 following the victory and has given the chasing pack hope of catching Roberto Mancini’s men.
Cech believes that Chelsea themselves still have a hand to play in the hunt for the championship and that the pressure is on City to recover from their set-back.
"We have cut the gap on City down to seven points, so we are back in the title race," the Czech keeper wrote on his personal website.
"We are five points behind United and I think we have put some pressure on both Manchester clubs.
"It was an extremely important match for us and we needed to win it.
"Had we lost we would have been 13 points behind City and that would have been too much. Seven points looks a lot different to 13.
"Let's wait and see how a first defeat of the season impacts them."
Asked if Chelsea’s three wins in a row in all competitions gives the club hope for the rest of the campaign, Cech said: "I hope so.
"The most important thing is that we did not break down after going behind against City. That will help us psychologically."
