Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has stressed that he would prefer to remain in the Premier League if he is to leave Old Trafford on loan in January.
The 20-year-old striker has made just two appearances from the bench this season, and is likely to leave the Red Devils on a short-term basis, attracting attention from a number of clubs in England, with Wigan keen to sign the youngster.
The Italian impressed after scoring in his debut game against Aston Villa at the end of the 2008-09 season, but has found opportunities for first-team action limited, and spent an unsuccessful spell at the end of last season on loan in Sampdoria.
"Now I do not feel right to return to Italy because my time at Samp went very badly," Macheda told lalaziosiamonoi.it.
"Even at the level of adaptation was very hard.
"Then the team was not right, so it is hard to think of returning to Italy in January, [I wish] instead to remain in England to play a little more here."
