Diego Maradona has expressed his interest in succeeding Srecko Katanec as United Arab Emirates coach.
Katanec was sacked after the country’s 2014 World Cup qualifying loss to Lebanon in September and it has been rumoured that Maradona is being lined up as a replacement.
The 51-year-old Argentine is currently coaching UAE Football League outfit Al Wasl and admitted that he would be open to taking on the role of national team boss.
"I would be happy to accept that position, but first I want to win a title with Al Wasl,” Maradona told AP.
Maradona, who was recently fined and hit with a three-game ban after a touchline altercation with Al Ain counterpart Cosmin Olaroiu also intimated that he would be keen on doing both jobs simultaneously.
