Liverpool have acknowledged the report from the Regulatory Commission which outlined the reasons for Luis Suarez's for eight-match ban and are now considering their response.

The Uruguayan was accused of racially insulting Manchester United defender Patrice Evra during a game between the two sides, and the matter was brought before an independent regulatory commission to sort out the issue.

On December 20 it was announced that the former Ajax forward would be suspended for eight matches, coupled with a fine of £40,000.

The FA then published the complete 115-page document on Saturday evening, which contains the details of the case and the reasons behind the player being punished.

Now Liverpool have confirmed that they received the report, as a statement on their official website reads: "The Club can confirm that they received the written reasons from the Regulatory Commission at short notice last night on the evening of the game against Newcastle United.

"The player, the club and our legal advisors will now take the necessary amount of time to read, digest and properly consider the contents of the 115-page judgment and will make no further comment at present."
